Spike TV on Monday announced that Ultimate Fighting Championship interim heavyweight titleholder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former champion Frank Mir will be the coaches for the eight season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The season, which premiers on Spike TV on Sept. 17, will return to the two-weight class format. It features light heavyweight (205-pound) and lightweight (155-pound) fighters. Production on season eight begins in late May, with the entire cast to be announced in September.

Nogueira and Mir, after serving as coaches, will meet in an as-of-yet unannounced pay-per-view event for the title.

Nogueira earned the interim championship designation by defeating former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia at UFC 81 in February. He finished the fight with a strong comeback effort, choking Sylvia out early in the third round.

At that same event, Mir continued his return to the sport with a first round knee bar submission of former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar. During WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio�s media tour of China, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake devastated the nation�s southwestern Sichuan province Monday afternoon, accumulating a death toll of more than 8,500.

When the earthquake hit, Mysterio was in the middle of an event at a local television station in Xian, China. The building was evacuated, and an unharmed Mysterio was brought back to his hotel where, for safety reasons, his room was moved to the first floor.

LONDON (AP) -- Justice Hugh Bennett granted a preliminary divorce decree Monday for Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.

McCartney and Mills weren't in court for the brief proceeding.

The decree could become final in six weeks and one day if no one objects.

Mills, 40, emerges from the rancorous divorce with a settlement of $47.5 million — and her reputation damaged by her ferocious televised outbursts against McCartney, 65.

At the conclusion of the divorce hearing in March, Mills dumped water on the head of McCartney's lawyer, Fiona Shackleton.

"Mrs. Shackleton said something under her breath so I cleansed and baptized her," Mills said at the time. "I thought she looked fantastic — I thought it did her the world of good."

Mills retains custody of the couple's 4-year-old daughter, Beatrice.

McCartney retains the bulk of his assets, estimated by the court to be worth $880 million.

Mills, whose left leg was amputated below the knee after a 1993 motorcycle accident, married McCartney at an Irish castle in 2002. They separated four years later.

Last year, Mills claimed in interviews that McCartney had failed to protect her and their daughter from slander, death threats and other abuse, and she accused the media of persecuting her.

In November, Mills said she had been "treated worse than a murderer or a pedophile," despite years of work for land mine victims and animal welfare charities.
